International arbitration has developed into the dispute resolution mechanism of choice for transnational commercial matters. The depth and sophistication of arbitration knowledge and practices around the world has grown dramatically in recent times. The arbitration process itself is constantly evolving to match the changing global business landscape. In particular, the rise of Asia as a key pillar in the world economy has led to the rapid growth of the arbitration industry. Nonetheless, problems persist due to the difficulties in enforcing arbitration awards in some places, and other challenges will continue to occasionally arise as more and more businesses adopt the use of arbitration.
Maxwell Chambers, along with the Singapore International Arbitration Centre as co-host and various supporting organisations, is proud to present the inaugural Singapore International Arbitration Forum (SIAF) 2010, to be held in January 2010. The Forum will bring together distinguished arbitration practitioners and thinkers from around the world to share insights and provide thought leadership on the major issues facing the industry. It will be a platform for arbitral institutions, arbitrators, lawyers and other stakeholders to discuss and debate the way forward in these demanding times. The first evening of this inaugural Forum will also see the official launch and Grand Opening of the Maxwell Chambers international dispute resolution facility.
