Welcome Message
Mr Philip Jeyaretnam
Chairman,
Maxwell Chambers

On behalf of Maxwell Chambers, I invite you to the second Singapore International Arbitration Forum, to be held at the Capella Singapore, on the island resort of Sentosa. The first Forum, eighteen months ago, was a huge success.   Participants from 26 different countries joined us. The second Forum, to be held in June this year, will adopt a focused  and intensive one day format: two sessions devoted to current issues, one session to examine recent developments specifically in Asia, and a final session to the new Singapore International Arbitration Forum Debate.

The day will begin with a look at the new SIAC Rules, in particular the provisions for emergency arbitrators and expedited proceedings. Next up will be a discussion of the challenges involved in insurance arbitration, an area that has assumed even greater importance following the Global Financial Crisis of 2009. The session on Asian developments will feature a panel of eminent arbitration practitioners from around Asia who will share their experience, insights and recommendations. The day will end in the blaze and smoke of the inaugural SIAF Debate for which the topic will be whether the rising costs of arbitration have made it an unattractive method of dispute resolution.

I am confident that SIAF2011 will be as memorable and fruitful as the inaugural conference, and we at Maxwell Chambers look forward to seeing you here in Singapore.
Dr Michael Pryles
Chairman,
Singapore International Arbitration Centre

On behalf of The Singapore International Arbitration Centre and Maxwell Chambers, it is my great pleasure to extend a warm invitation to you to participate in the second Singapore International Arbitration Forum scheduled to be held in Singapore on June 1st, at the magnificent Capella Hotel.

Building on the previous successful conference SIAF 2011, will foster an international exchange on developments such as the application of the new SIAC 2010 Rules, the rapidly growing and diverse insurance arbitration market emanating from the Asia Pacific region and the future of arbitration   will be explored in a lively debate that will close the day’s discussions.

As you can see from the enclosed list of speakers, an outstanding array of international arbitration and insurance practitioners have agreed to share their views and experiences with you. With their input on their conference topics, you will be able to take home an updated roadmap of your own to further develop future dispute resolution strategies that are uniquely targeted to your own organisations.

On behalf of the Organising Committee, I would like to welcome you to the 2nd SIAF.  Please join us in June 2010 and we assure you will have a wonderful time in Singapore!
